Polyimides - PI

Polyimides – PI have an excellent mechanical resistance under continuous operating temperature from -100° Celsisus to +200° Celsius, great dimensional stability from -50° Celsisus to +250° Celsius, good resistance to chemicals ; oils, greases, kerosene. They also have great radiations resistance, good fire resistance, stable dielectric properties until 200° Celsius, very limited creep, good friction and wear resistance.

 

However, polyimides have poor bases and alkaline hydrolysis resistance. They also have poor oxidation resistance and reduced filmogenic properties. Moreover, they are expansive.
